Choose where progress lives
Without saving enabled, the current board lives in the open game. Optional browser saving stores the case ID, marks, recent actions, applied-hint count and local elapsed time on this browser. It does not create an account or synchronize through a server. The control is explicit so you can decide whether progress should persist after the page closes.
Browser storage can be blocked, full or cleared. Private browsing may also remove it when the session ends. If saving fails, the game reports the problem rather than claiming that progress is safe. You can export a small JSON progress file and keep it locally. Restoring that file validates its structure and case ID before applying it to a board.
Daily selection and fixed case identity
The daily selector uses UTC, so it changes at midnight UTC rather than your local midnight. It rotates through the current twenty-four original cases. The archive exposes the same library directly; it is not a second collection. This keeps the promise concrete and makes returning to an unfinished case straightforward.
A case ID such as CR01 always refers to the same version-one clues and category values. The share link includes only that stable identifier. A friend who opens it receives the same puzzle and can make independent deductions. There is no live room, shared cursor, chat service or hidden multiplayer connection behind the link.
Share and clear deliberately
Share without spoilers produces selectable text containing the case ID, title, completion state and number of applied hints. It omits the reconstructed records, crosses and checks. Copy that text into your preferred messaging app yourself. The site does not send messages to contacts or request social-account access.
Clear the saving checkbox to remove saved ClueRelay cases from this browser while leaving the current in-memory board visible. Restarting a case clears that case’s current progress after a confirmation. The local time counter pauses when the page loses focus or becomes hidden; it is a personal aid, not a tamper-resistant ranking or a measure of intelligence.
